ST. LOUIS, Jan. 22 (LocalBusiness.com) -- Scrappy marketing and advertising agency Creativworks is broadening its horizons by aligning itself with online news release distributor PR Newswire. It's trying to carve out a niche filling the needs of small and mid-sized businesses.
The way the back-scratching agreement is arranged, PR Newswire will issue news releases and provide other communications tools that will allow Creativworks' clients to reach people in the consumer, financial and investor worlds as well as in the media.
"Public relations is an integral part of the services we provide and it is now complemented with top-of-the-line distribution that used to be readily available for only large companies," said David Meyer, managing director of business development.
Creativworks has a history of looking for strategic advantages. In November of 2000 it teamed up with online market research company InsightExpress LLC of Greenwich, Conn., and co-op direct mailing company ADVO Inc., of Windsor, Conn.
Creativworks announced in early September that it would roll out new branch offices across the United States, funded with $15 to $20 million in venture capital from unnamed firms in New York, Chicago, Dallas and the Silicon Valley area, but the close date for this round has not been set.
The company said at the time that it intended to put up 300 offices by 2005. Bold words like that got Creativworks named to the LocalBusiness.com "50 to Watch" list this quarter for St. Louis.
